Behind the Screen

Behind the screen isn't some guesswork and fraud information, it is a compiled amount of research papers and injury information that has been double checked by experts to prove its validity.

Most swimming injury advice online falls into one of two camps: overly clinical journal language that's hard to apply, or casual forum opinions with no evidence behind them. This site sits in between. Every injury guide starts with a review of current sports medicine literature, then gets checked by professionals who actually treat swimmers, before it's simplified into language anyone can use.

Nothing here replaces a diagnosis from a doctor or physical therapist — what it does is help you understand your body well enough to know when something's wrong, what you can reasonably try yourself, and when it's time to get real medical care.

About

My name is Chengry Hsien

Chengry Hsien is a swimmer on the California Dolphins Swim Team (CDST). He started swimming at age 8, when his grandfather taught him in a hotel pool in Beijing, and quickly found a passion for the water that has stayed with him ever since. He got his first taste of competitive swimming at the EBSL (East Bay Swim League), where he picked up breaststroke as his main stroke and broke the 25-yard breaststroke record at his local team, the Mission Highland Sharks.

Looking to compete at a higher level, he moved on to Santa Clara Swim Club's Milpitas site, which later became Milpitas Aquatics Club. He trained there for eight years, earning multiple Far Westerns cuts and his first Sectional cut. He now swims for California Dolphins Swim Team, where he's currently just 0.5 seconds away from his first TYR Futures cut.
